Philadelphia's annual South 9th Street Italian Market Festival is returning this weekend with food, music, crafts, and a 30-foot-tall greased pole. The event, held rain or shine, will take place on May 16 and May 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., covering seven city blocks and featuring over 100 local vendors.
Organizers said visitors will have the chance to sample and purchase culinary delights, enjoy music, and purchase souvenirs, jewelry, and items from artists and crafters. The star of the event is the grease pole challenge, happening daily. Teams will race to the top of a slippery pole to snag prizes like meats, cheeses, gifts, and cash.
