At AsiaWorld-Expo, Martina Batini, Martina Favaretto, Arianna Errigo, and Anna Cristino defeated the United States 45-29 in the final after also getting past Israel, Hungary, and Japan. Arianna Errigo was decisive, leading the comeback at the most delicate point of the match.
The women’s team title sealed a World Championships defined by consistency, individual excellence, and the strength of Italy’s team events. It was a result built through tight finals, key comebacks, and a technical leadership recognized by every rival nation.
Italy’s four gold medals came from Martina Favaretto in women’s individual foil, from the men’s foil team of Guillaume Bianchi, Filippo Macchi, Tommaso Marini, and Tommaso Martini, from the women’s épée team of Alberta Santuccio, Giulia Rizzi, Rossella Fiamingo, and Gaia Caforio, and finally from the women’s foil team. The silver medals that completed Italy’s first-place finish came from Filippo Macchi in men’s individual foil, Giulia Rizzi in women’s individual épée, Davide Di Veroli in men’s individual épée, and Arianna Errigo in women’s individual foil.
Hong Kong therefore delivered not only the final gold of the tournament, but the clearest verdict of all: Italy was the best nation at these World Championships.
