The newly finalized free trade agreement between the European Union and India represents a major opportunity for Italy and for the global expansion of Made in Italy products. After almost twenty years of negotiations, the deal removes or significantly reduces tariffs on the vast majority of goods exchanged between the two economies, opening direct access to a market of more than 1.4 billion people.
For Italian companies, this agreement arrives at a critical moment, offering diversification beyond traditional export destinations and long-term growth potential. One of the most immediate benefits for Italy lies in tariff reductions. Under the agreement, duties will be eliminated or lowered on about 96.6% of EU exports to India. This translates into substantial savings for Italian manufacturers, particularly in high-value sectors such as machinery, industrial equipment, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and precision engineering.
