In a nation of small businesses, immigrant entrepreneurs fit right in

The number of foreign entrepreneurs in Italy is growing. According to a study by Fondazione Leone Moressa based on ISTAT data, in the last five years the percentage of non-Italian entrepreneurs has increased by 20%, with Lazio, Campania and Calabria regions leading the way.

Italy's immigrant business owners now number 656,000 (165,000 coming from the EU and 491,000 coming from outside it, with the latter category growing the most). Today, immgirant-owned companies reach 8.7% of all the total, (approximately 7.6 million in all), almost one out of ten.
