On Sunday mornings, while much of Rome is still waking up, the area around Porta Portese becomes lively early; cardboard boxes, clothing racks, piles of objects whose value is often unclear appear scattered on tables through stalls.
By mid-morning, the streets around Via Portuense and Trastevere have turned into a dense, noisy maze where antiques, vinyl records, shoes, books, military jackets, bicycle parts, kitchen tools, and second-hand furniture, all coexisting within a few crowded blocks.
