Art, culture, and the innovation of Made in Italy took center stage during the celebrations of Italy’s Republic Day in New York.
Hosted in the stunning setting of The Glasshouse, the event brought together more than 1,300 guests – including representatives from government, business, science, and civil society – from the Italian, Italian American, and broader American communities to honor the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic, founded on June 2, 1946.
The evening, whose official invitation was designed by acclaimed illustrator Emiliano Ponzi, opened with welcoming remarks by Consul General Giuseppe Pastorelli. Guests also enjoyed a video presentation of the Italian and American national anthems, reimagined by renowned musician Paolo Fresu, followed by a message from Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani.
Congressman Andrea Di Giuseppe and Congressman Christian Di Sanzo also addressed the audience before the appearance of international star Whoopi Goldberg, whose presence highlighted the deep cultural ties between Italy and the United States.
The cultural program began with “PRELUDIO,” a contemporary dance performance by Aterballetto. Bridging artistic tradition and technological innovation was an immersive holographic projection created by digital artist Stefano Fomasi through his Immersive Art Experience project. The performance set the stage for a lively celebration featuring sets by popular Italian DJs Cristian Marchi and Molella.
Guests were also treated to authentic Italian hospitality through an aperitivo and buffet prepared with the support of leading food and beverage companies, as well as some of New York’s best-known Italian restaurants.
The event was made possible through the collaboration between the Consulate General of Italy and the institutions of the Italian System in the United States, including ICE, the Italian Cultural Institute, and ENIT, together with more than 60 partner companies representing the excellence of Italian entrepreneurship throughout the Tri-State area.
