Italian festival at LaSalette

By: MIKE KIRBY

LaSalette Shrine, says Father Flavio Gillio, is a lot more than Christmas lights. There are, for instance, various pilgrimages and festivals for the region’s Catholic ethnic groups. The Park Street shrine has played host to Portuguese, Hispanic, Cambodian and Vietnamese events over the years.

One more ethnicity can soon be added to that group. LaSalette this fall will play host to its first Italian Cultural Festival, planned for Sept. 22. Father Flavio, as he is known, and Teddy de Caro, co-chairs of the event, see the festival as combining religion, fundraising and fun.
