Coffee is more than just a drink in Italy – it is a daily habit deeply rooted in culture. A recent study looked specifically at Italian style coffee consumption, focusing on how it may affect health, especially liver function and metabolism. Italian coffee is usually served as espresso, in small 30 ml cups, and about 93% of people prefer this preparation method, often made with an espresso machine or a moka pot.
The research followed 1,079 individuals and analyzed how many cups of coffee they drank each day. The results showed a clear pattern – people who drank coffee regularly had a lower risk of developing metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease, a condition linked to fat buildup in the liver.
