Italy’s technology sector is no longer an emerging story – it has become a structured and rapidly expanding ecosystem capable of generating revenue, jobs, and international visibility. Recent data confirm a strong acceleration, with Italian tech companies reaching a new level of maturity and competitiveness on the global stage.
One of the clearest indicators of this growth is the rise of so-called unicorns – startups valued at more than €1 billion. Italy now counts 9 companies in this category, and together they generate nearly €6 billion in annual revenue while employing about 24,000 people. The fact that 2 new unicorns emerged in 2025 alone shows that this is not a one-time achievement but part of a broader, ongoing trend.
