Italian Woman Receives First Bionic Hand with Sense of Touch

Scientists in Rome have unveiled the first bionic hand with a sense of touch that can be worn outside a laboratory. In 2014 the same global team produced the world's first feeling bionic hand. Unfortunately, the system was too large to leave the laboratory.

This breakthrough is the result of many years of robotic research carried out by teams in Italy, Switzerland, and Germany. The bionic hand's sensory features allow its user to detect an object's hardness or softness, allowing the wearer to complete daily tasks previously impossible with prosthetics.
