Italians continue to demonstrate a remarkable commitment to saving, and new banking data reveal an encouraging development: while northern regions still hold the largest deposits, southern Italy and the islands are recording the strongest growth.
According to an analysis conducted by Isnec and Withub using Bank of Italy statistics, average bank deposits reached €19,812 per resident in May 2026, representing a 4.3% increase compared with 2021. The figures offer a detailed picture of how financial resources are distributed across Italy's regions and provinces, highlighting both longstanding differences and emerging opportunities.
