Italy sets a new standard in glass recycling with an 82.1% recovery rate

Italy continues to strengthen its position as one of Europe's leaders in the circular economy, achieving another milestone in glass recycling. According to the latest industry data, the country recycled 82.1% of its glass packaging in 2025, improving on the previous year's 80.3% and comfortably exceeding the European Union's 2030 target of 75%. The result confirms Italy's ability to combine environmental responsibility with industrial efficiency.

The achievement reflects the work of an integrated national system involving municipalities, recycling operators, manufacturers, and the CoReVe consortium, which coordinates the recovery and recycling of glass packaging across the country. Italy has steadily increased its recycling performance over the past decade, transforming used bottles and jars into valuable raw materials for new production while reducing dependence on virgin resources.
