Italy’s optics and photonics industry makes its debut at Spie Photonics West in San Francisco

By: We the Italians Editorial Staff

Italy is preparing a coordinated debut at one of the world’s most influential events for optics and photonics. From January 20 to 22, 2026, twelve Italian companies will take part in SPIE Photonics West at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, presenting advanced technologies developed across Italy’s rapidly expanding photonics ecosystem.

The collective presence highlights a sector that combines optics and electronics to generate, manipulate, and transmit information through light. These technologies are increasingly central to high-growth industries such as biomedical engineering, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, telecommunications, and smart infrastructure. Each year, the San Francisco event attracts tens of thousands of professionals from more than 70 countries, including researchers, engineers, executives, and technology buyers.

The Italian delegation reflects a broad cross-section of capabilities. Participating companies include ALITE Srl, active in optical solutions and precision instrumentation, Eye‑Tech, which focuses on imaging and sensing systems, and GEM Elettronica, known for integrating photonics into electronic platforms. Industrial and sensing applications are represented by Gestione Silo and Optosensing, while laser and photonic system development is covered by Julight and Specto Photonics.

The group also includes ppqSense S.R.L., specializing in precision measurement, QTI SRL, which applies quantum principles to communications and security, and Rotonium, focused on optoelectronic innovation. Precision optics manufacturing is represented by Tecnottica Consonni Srl, alongside TEDIEL S.r.l., active in electronic and photonic solutions for industrial automation.

By exhibiting together, these companies aim to strengthen their presence in North America and emphasize integrated solutions rather than standalone components. The shared pavilion reflects the growing maturity of Italy’s optics and photonics industry – an ecosystem driven by research excellence, specialized manufacturing, and rising global demand for light-based technologies.
