Italian Charities of America presents you with a joyful evening of Sicilian and Southern Italian Christmas music featuring Michela Musolino and her band, Rosa Tatuata.

For Italian Charities of America's 2nd Annual Christmas Concert, we will celebrate Christmas with songs from long ago about LA NOTTI TRIUNFANTI, that triumphant night which changed the world! The concert will highlight Christmas traditions of Sicily and Southern Italy, played on folk instruments, and presented with the soul stirring stories of their origins.

Michela Musolino, the internationally acclaimed Sicilian-American singer, carries forward the rich musical traditions of her heritage with voice and frame drum. Inspired by her grandmother’s legacy as a frame-drum player, Musolino has dedicated her career to exploring, preserving, and reimagining the folk songs of Sicily. With her trio Terra Sangue Mare, she earned international recognition when their album was named one of PopMatters’ “12 Best World Music Albums of 2016.” Now based in Memphis, Musolino blends Southern Italian traditions with the sounds of the American South, creating a vibrant new musical dialogue, which are included in both her single release, ‘Tavula ri Morti,’ and album release, ‘La Notti Triunfanti,’ her Christmas album recorded and produced in Memphis. She is also the founder of Rosa’s Drum, an organization dedicated to teaching and promoting folk traditions from Sicily and Southern Italy. Recent highlights include performances for the National Council on the Traditional Arts with her folk band, Rosa Tatuata; performances at Alkantara Fest’s 20th anniversary in Sicily, tours with I Beddi/Sicily Folk Orchestra, and participation in Comusì, a global initiative to establish Sicilian music as a recognized genre worldwide.
