Lady Gaga has reportedly welcomed her first child with fiancé Michael Polansky, marking a major new chapter in the life of one of the world’s most famous Italian American entertainers.
Multiple U.S. media outlets reported the birth, although Gaga and Polansky have not publicly announced details such as the baby’s name, sex or exact date of birth. The couple, who became engaged in 2024, have generally kept their relationship and family plans relatively private.
Born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in New York City in 1986, Lady Gaga has long spoken about her Italian American background. Her father, Joseph Germanotta, is of Italian descent, while her mother, Cynthia Bissett Germanotta, also has Italian ancestry. Gaga grew up in a Catholic family on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart before beginning the musical career that would transform her into an international star.
Her family roots connect her to both Sicily and northern Italy. Gaga has repeatedly incorporated her heritage into the way she talks about family, food, traditions and identity.
