Italy is bringing passport services closer to its citizens in the southeastern United States and Puerto Rico through four special consular missions scheduled for September and October 2026.
The Consulate General of Italy in Miami announced that passport appointments will be offered in Tampa on September 15, San Juan on September 18, Naples on September 22 and Fort Lauderdale on October 1.
The initiative is designed to make consular services more accessible to Italians who live far from the Miami office. It is open exclusively to Italian citizens registered with AIRE and residing within the Miami consular district.
Demand is already strong. The Tampa appointments are fully booked, while only limited availability remains in Naples. The San Juan mission will be held at Cinotti International LLC, while the Naples appointments will take place at Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church. Fort Lauderdale services will be hosted by Reboa Law Firm.
The passport missions will coincide with visits by an itinerant consular official connected to the 2026 Com.It.Es. elections, creating an additional opportunity to bring government services directly into local Italian communities.
The Miami Consulate serves a particularly large and geographically dispersed jurisdiction. It includes Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and South Carolina, as well as Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, several Caribbean territories and the British Virgin Islands.
Passport demand throughout the district has been significant. The Consulate currently makes between 150 and 170 passport appointments available each week, with additional slots released regularly.
