Lidia Bastianich’s new book aimed at getting people to reconnect over Italian dishes

By: Gail Ciampa

Lidia will be in R.I. at Dave’s Marketplace on Saturday. Anybody who loves food and watches TV has no doubt watched and listened to Lidia Bastianich. For years she’s been cooking with her mother or daughter, or alone, creating Italian dishes that can be re-created in the home kitchen.

For those who don’t believe that, Bastianich and her daughter Tanya Bastianich Manuali have written “Lidia’s Celebrate Like An Italian.” “Everybody can cook,” Bastianich said in a phone interview from California where she was on her book tour. “You don’t have to do anything fancy. You can do a nice antipasto spread with sardines, anchovies, some meats, marinated vegetables, fruits, cheese, nuts and crackers.”
