Livigno, an Alpine mountain town with a population of 7,000 located approximately 200 kilometers northeast of Milan, Italy, is currently in the midst of a "snow makeover." With the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics set to open on February 6 next month, the entire city is transforming into a snowy wonderland, including ski slopes under final construction.
The city will determine the winners of 26 gold medals in snow-based events such as snowboarding and freestyle skiing. Concerns about a "snow drought" in Livigno emerged not long ago. This was due to abnormal temperatures in early December last year, when daytime highs rose 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above average.
