For a few hours on a warm June evening, the cafeteria at West Orange High School felt less like a school gathering and more like a stop along the Italian Riviera. The occasion was the Italian Club's annual Italian Night, a fundraiser that has become both a celebration of Italian culture and a source of scholarship support for graduating students.
This year's event, held June 5, embraced the theme "A Journey Into la musica di Sanremo," drawing inspiration from the famed coastal city and its internationally recognized music festival. The choice of theme reflected more than aesthetics. For many students in West Orange's Italian language program, Sanremo has become a familiar part of the curriculum.
