National Italian American Foundation Sells Gilded Age D.C. Mansion for $3.4 Million

The National Italian American Foundation has sold its headquarters in Washington, D.C., a former private residence built in 1907, for $3.412 million.  The buyer is a developer who plans to convert the 7,800-square-foot brick mansion into a boutique condo building while preserving its protected 120-year-old facade, according to Matthew Windsor of Douglas Elliman, who represented both the buyer and seller in the transaction, alongside colleague Lyndsi Armenio.

“The property falls in the Dupont Circle Historic District, so the exterior of the home can’t be altered,” Windsor said. “She’s still figuring out how many units and what the layout is going to be, but they’ll honor the building’s history and character.” The buyer is Circle LLC and the sale closed last week, according to property records. It was originally listed by Windsor and Armenio in 2024 for $3.99 million.
