Now Open: Farinolio opens, bringing authentic Tuscan flavors to Westfield

By: Rebecca King

Farinolio in Westfield is beginning to hit its stride after opening in July of 2018. The semi-new counter-service cafe serves simple, authentic Tuscan pastries and sandwiches made of cured meats, fresh cheeses, quality bread and plenty of olive oil. In fact, the bakery and cafe takes its name from the Italian words for flour (farina) and oil (olio), which are the two key ingredients of a Mediterranean diet.

Owner Francesco Colbertaldo came up with the concept six years ago. Originally from Florence, he wanted to create a cafe in New Jersey similar to those he ate in while in Tuscany. “I couldn’t find anything like it in the area,” he said. “There was no place offering the type of food or quality I was looking for.”
