Portillo's has announced the opening date for its 9,000 square foot restaurant in Maple Grove. The popular Chicago-based hotdog chain will open its second Minnesota location at 12251 Elm Creek Blvd N. in Maple Grove on Jan. 23, 2018.
Portillo's is known for its Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs and its old-school style of taking orders — which are written in pencil on a white paper bag. The Maple Grove location will feature 1920s Prohibition-era décor, two drive-thru lanes, and seasonal outdoor seating. It will also sell beer.
