Citing Pringle of Scotland comes to mind the tradition of Scottish knitwear, lozenges fantasy (argyle) adopted by the Duke of Windsor and then again cashmere and twin set. But today Pringle of Scotland is much more, is synonymous of contemporarity and wereability at all hours of the day. The creative director Massimo Nicosia has the credit for that, who as a good Sicilian was able to impose his Italianity in a British brand.

During the London Fashion Week in September, where Pringle of Scotland has welcomed the press and buyers in a prestigious hotel in Mayfair, Nicosia presented the spring summer 2014 collection, and attended the opening of the new flagship store in Mount Street, where also actress Tilda Swinton appeared, endorsing the brand.

Explaining the collection, the designer pointed out that it is a play of contrasts, with a mix of sportswear and couture tailoring, obtained by combining the ergonomic figures to those purely tailoring as kimono forms. Even the recurring curves contrast with the typical Pringle lines (diagonal argyle), all very angular and sharp geometries. A game of opposites. But there is also a game with the materials to make live together knitted and woven fabrics. "Pringle is most famous for the twin set worn by Grace Kelly, the argyle yet still bought by the royal family and for cashmere - added Nicosia - but now I also like to further research in the knitting".

The research aboout tissues is a strength of the brand and especially in the spring summer 2014 has given great results, using a silk which gives a very malleable lightweight knitwear. The clothes are, then, played down by panels, strings and stops drawstring built with technical materials.

Massimo Nicosia has first of all the merit of being able to bring a touch of Made in Italy in a brand synonymous with British style as Pringle. It was possible for his character inclined to accept the challenges that, after the experience at home at Krizia and Alessandro Dell'Acqua, has opened him the doors of Great Britain.

"I brought my Italian know-how - added Nicosia - the passion for the research of the new, the desire to always ask for more and to move toward what could not be done. When, for example, I go to a spinner I always ask to apply new techniques to knitwear, almost impossible, to be able to get some unexpected effects, what the British call happy accident, new and different".
