The Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani outlined a major reform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that will take effect on January 1 of the coming year. He described the overhaul as a push toward simplification and innovation, with a stronger focus on services for citizens and businesses so that economic growth becomes an even more central pillar of Italy’s foreign policy.
The plan, implemented at no additional cost, reshapes the ministry into two complementary branches – one dedicated to political affairs and the other to economic initiatives – each led by a Deputy Secretary General. Alongside the Directorate for Political Affairs and International Security, a new Directorate for Growth and Export Promotion will be established.
