The world-premiere musical adaptation of A Bronx Tale is just a few weeks from beginning performances at Paper Mill Playhouse. Before previews begin on February 4, the cast met the press alongside their illustrious codirectors, four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks and Oscar winner Robert De Niro, who directed and starred in the original film.
Based on Chazz Palminteri's acclaimed one-man show and subsequent 1993 film, A Bronx Tale is set against the backdrop of racial strife and organized crime in the 1960s as an Italian-American teenager must choose between the father who raised him and the mob-boss father figure who fascinates him.
