She parlayed a concern for nutrition into career as Wellness Kitchenista

By: Ken Mammarella

Jessica DeLuise’s career path can be traced to symptoms she experienced as a teenager – fainting, chronic acid reflux, IBS and esophageal ulcers. “What I ate affected how I felt,” she recalled in an interview. She was prescribed various medications and urged to eat less of what triggers acid reflux, such as tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, citrus, coffee and peanut butter. “Mealtime became confusing,” she wrote on the Meet Jessica page of thewellnesskitchenista.com.

For years, she managed her symptoms with medications and lifestyle and dietary modifications. She found that many symptoms were markedly improved. Some lifestyle modifications that seemed to help the most were stress management, eating times, portion sizes, regular exercise and quality sleep. Her goal is to bring the potentially transformative benefits of food and life balance to the forefront.
