Sorrento House, a new Italian-American restaurant, will replace Mama Mia's in Wales

By: Evan Frank

Reece Block is coming back to a familiar place. Block, a recent University of Wisconsin-Whitewater graduate who hails from Oconomowoc, worked at Mama Mia's for a number of years before taking a marketing role with Sysco, a food and service business.

When he was 16, Block started at Mama Mia's in Wales as a host. He went on to became the general manager for that location, as well as the Brookfield Mama Mia's. About three or four months ago, Block approached Mama Mia's owner Jodine Paulsen about selling, since Paulsen wanted to focus on the Brookfield location. Block purchased the restaurant's assets from Paulsen and will open Sorrento House at 200 W. Summit Ave. on May 14.
