In Hammonton, where almost half the population identifies as Italian-American, men from all kinds of professional backgrounds get together regularly to play a game that has been popular for centuries — Italian Fingers, also called Morra.
A group was playing Thursday night at Rocco's Town House on Third Street, in the heart of what Hammonton calls its Little Italy, near St. Joseph's Catholic Church. To a newcomer, Italian Fingers seems like a loose approximation of the card game blackjack combined with rock-paper-scissors.
