St. Joseph’s Table event on March 15

The Paolo Busti Cultural Foundation will host its annual St. Joseph’s Table at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, at Sunny’s restaurant. The public is invited. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Sunny’s and VJ Gautieri’s, from board members, or by calling (585) 734-9102.

St. Joseph the Worker is the patron Saint of fathers, the dying and social justice. The tradition of the table has meatless dishes: pasta with red sauce with boiled eggs on top, variety of greens, lentils, fresh fruits, a sweet anise bread, cannoli. Many tables were celebrated in Italian homes in a fulfilment of a promise to St. Joseph for his assistance in time of family or personal crisis. The table in homes had a table with the image of St. Joseph, with flowers, candles, fruit, bread and assorted sweets. Traditionally an open house at the home of the person giving the table.
