The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum To Host Screening of My Florìta, Exploring Italian Migration and Identity In South Florida

The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum will present a special screening of the award-winning documentary My FlorÌta, a Volpe Media Intl. production, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, as part of its 2026 cultural programming lineup. The 60-minute film will be followed by a live Q&A with filmmaker Manuela Filomena.

Set in Palm Beach County, My FlorÌta explores the experiences of Italian and Italian American communities who have relocated to South Florida, examining themes of migration, memory, identity, and belonging. The documentary blends in-depth interviews with poetic visual storytelling, following a symbolic character named Alpha as he assembles a puzzle made up of objects and stories tied to the region’s Italian diaspora.
