The Silk Road has been reborn in Veneto, thanks to a network of businesses that has rebuilt and reorganised the entire cycle - from the cultivation of the mulberry tree to the breeding of silkworms, all the way to the transformation of the yarn - and that aims to restart the industry, create employment and social inclusion (thanks to the involvement of agricultural and social cooperatives), focusing on 100% Made in Italy.
This results in an ethical supply chain, that recognises the right price for all those involved in the diverse phases. The jewellery company D'Orica is the leader of the network. Last January, at the Vicenza Oro fair, they presented the first jewellery collection in gold and ethical silk, produced in the spinning mill, which had been closed for decades and was purchased and restarted in Castelfranco Veneto.
