The Westchester County Board of Legislators establishes “Cristiana Pegoraro Day”

By: Alfonse Panico

On the occasion of the seventh annual Women’s Day celebration in 2026, held in New York at the well-known Triad Theater, the Westchester County Board of Legislators honored artist Cristiana Pegoraro, the evening’s guest of honor, by establishing “Cristiana Pegoraro Day,” which will be celebrated on March 28, 2026.

“Cristiana Pegoraro’s career as a performer, composer, and advocate for the arts reflects the profound impact of women in shaping the global musical landscape.”

This was the motivation cited in the official proclamation issued by the Board of Legislators, which was presented to Cristiana Pegoraro during the event by David Tubiolo, a member of the Westchester County Board of Legislators.

Pianist Cristiana Pegoraro, an artist known around the world, is the artistic director of the renowned Narnia Festival. In addition to her concert career across five continents and her extensive discography – which includes five CDs of her own compositions – she is also the author of the poetry book Ithaka and a series of children’s stories inspired by opera.

Cristiana has received more than 40 international recognitions, including the World Peace Award from the Italian Cultural Society of the United Nations in New York; the Golden Apple Bellisario Award from the Marisa Bellisario Foundation; the Premio Simpatia; and the “Fabrizio Frizzi” Award from the Gigi Ghirotti National Foundation Onlus, recognizing her as an “Ambassador of Italian Culture in the World.”
