As part of its operational deployment campaign in the Indo-Pacific region, the Italian Navy ship Giovanni delle Bande Nere will arrive in Hawaii, where it will be stationed at Naval Base Pearl Harbor from June 22 to July 7.
During its stay in Hawaii, the vessel will participate in activities associated with the 30th edition of RIMPAC 2026 (Rim of the Pacific), the world’s largest international maritime exercise, designed to strengthen interoperability and cooperation among the 31 participating nations.
Having departed from the Italian naval base in Taranto on May 3 for its operational deployment campaign, Giovanni delle Bande Nere will visit 10 ports, reinforcing Italy’s presence in the region as part of a broader framework of international cooperation aimed at promoting the “Italy System” through technological, industrial, and cultural engagement, while showcasing Italian excellence during the major events organized throughout the deployment.
Consistent with the strategic objectives of the deployment campaign and building on the international partnerships previously established by Italian Navy vessels, Giovanni delle Bande Nere’s stop in Honolulu underscores Italy’s commitment to demonstrating its ability to operate effectively in global maritime environments and to strengthening cooperation with allied and partner navies. These efforts contribute to safeguarding maritime lines of communication and ensuring freedom of navigation.
