Utica's Christopher Columbus statue vandalized again

The statue of Christopher Columbus in Utica was defaced again, according to city officials. The vandalism was reported Wednesday morning, and similar to the first incident in September, the word “killer” was written in spray paint. Spray paint also covered lights around the base of the statue.

The defacing comes eight days after the last act of vandalism on Sept. 29. Vincent Scalise, the founder and executive director of The Utica Center for Development, offered a reward of $3,000 leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible, as well as his "services and resources to clean the statue," in an emailed statement after the first incident.
