For 2025, Italy is expected to reach a recycling rate of 75.2% for packaging, with actual volumes steadily increasing. The data was released in celebration of World Recycling Day, which is observed every March 18.
In detail, this year should see over 85% of paper and cardboard packaging recycled, more than 80% of steel packaging, 70% of aluminum packaging, nearly 64% of wooden packaging, over 51% of plastic and compostable bioplastic packaging (about 51% of traditional plastic and 58.5% of bioplastic), and over 81% of glass packaging.
