What was the best-selling book of 2025 in Italy? The top ten titles

Which book sold the most copies in Italy  in 2025? The answer comes from the annual ranking of the ten best-selling titles, a list that mixes fiction and nonfiction and clearly favors established, big-name authors. For readers in Italy and beyond, these writers represent a kind of safe harbor – familiar voices that consistently dominate the charts.

Leading the list is Dan Brown, the undisputed master of the modern thriller. His latest novel, The Last Secret (L’ultimo segreto), published in Italy by Rizzoli in September, marks the return of Robert Langdon, Brown’s iconic character. Unsurprisingly, the long-awaited comeback secured first place.

Second place goes to journalist and author Aldo Cazzullo, a constant reference point in the Italian publishing market. After topping the charts in 2024 with God of Our Fathers, this year he earned silver with Francis – The First Italian. Published by HarperCollins, the book portrays Saint Francis of Assisi not only as a religious figure, but also as a foundational element of Italian identity.

In third place is Swiss author Joël Dicker, who first gained international fame with The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair. His new novel, The Catastrophic Visit to the Zoo, published by La Nave di Teseo, has once again captured readers’ attention.

Fourth is Gianluca Gotto with Dawn Will Come, You’ll Be Fine, while fifth place belongs to British bestselling author Ken Follett, thanks to The Circle of Days.

Sixth place marks a return to nonfiction with Hope, the autobiography of Pope Francis, published in January 2025. It is the first memoir ever released by a reigning pope, tracing his life from childhood in Buenos Aires to the papacy.

The Argentine pontiff outsold the 2025 Strega Prize winner Andrea Bajani, whose novel The Anniversary ranks seventh – a powerful, uncompromising exploration of family rupture.

Eighth is Happiness on Rainy Days by Imogen Clark, followed in ninth place by Gotto’s long-seller Something Wonderful Always Happens, which continues to resonate with readers.

Closing the top ten is Tatà by French author Valérie Perrin, published in late 2024. Following the success of Changing the Water to Flowers, Perrin once again weaves an emotionally rich tapestry of stories, characters, and unexpected twists.
