Wednesday, June 21 · 8pm PDT. Theatre Raymond Kabbaz 10361 W Pico Blvd Los Angeles, CA. The award-winning Patrizia Laquidara is considered one of the most brilliant figures of Italian songwriter music. She has released five albums and collaborated in theater productions. In this concert presented by the IIC Los Angeles for Make Music Day, Patrizia Laquidara dives into her repertoire, recounting the origins and the history of Italian popular music.
Starting with an homage to the Neapolitan song, Patrizia moves to the first edition of the Sanremo Festival and the music of the 1950s, with Modugno’s revolutionary idea that Italians are ready to fly (“Volare”). Touching upon the poetic notes of Endrigo and Tenco, as well as the songwriting of De Andrè, Guccini, and Battisti, this performance takes us on a musical journey that also teaches Italian history.
