The Village Players of Birmingham chases away the winter blues with the smart comedy, Over the River and Through the Woods, running three weekends March 8-24, 2019 at the Village Players of Birmingham (MI). This heartfelt comedy by Joe DiPietro brings the family experience to the stage as we meet Nick, a single man in New York, who takes time to visit his grandparents in their Italian American neighborhood for dinner at least once a week. On one of his visits, he announces that his employer is promoting him and relocating him to Seattle in a few months.
His grandparents then conspire to introduce Nick to a "nice Catholic girl" as a way of enticing him to stay local. The conversations between Nick and his grandparents are as hysterical as they are poignant as the play takes us on a joyous roller coaster ride through Nick's decision making. A heartwarming and touching comedy, which celebrates "La Famiglia" (The Family).
