Mid-Ohio Opera will perform the Italian romantic comedy opera "L'elisr d'amore" (The Elixir of Love) by Donizetti, in full production, at Mansfield Senior High auditorium at 7:30 p.m. July 24 and 3 p.m. July 26.

The story is of a shy country boy who falls in love, but feels he needs a boost from a quack doctor's magical elixir to speak his feelings. The production is sung in Italian with projected English supertitles. The cast includes young up-and-coming professional singers, a community opera chorus, maestro Paul Chandley (formerly of the Metropolitan Opera), and international concert pianist Sophia Pavlenko Chandley.
