The Pittsburg (KS) State University Solo & Chamber Music Series, which began in September, will continue with its next concert, a performance by Italian trombonist Peter Steiner, on Friday, Jan. 20. Steiner, who has been hailed as "a new trombone star within his generation" by the president of the International Trombone Association, is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Sharon Kay Dean Recital Hall at McCray Hall on the PSU campus.
In 2019, Steiner was honored as a prize winner at the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition in Russia. At 23 years old, Steiner was appointed trombonist of the Vienna State Opera and Vienna Philharmonic for the 2016-2017 season. Previously, he served as principal trombonist with the Colorado Symphony for the 2014-2015 season.
