Dante Alighieri Society of Massachusetts, Inc. presents: "Accordion Concert with Luca Piovesan". A Musical Trip from Europe to America Through the Centuries. Sunday, April 9, 2017 6:00 - 7:30 pm
Luca Piovesan is an outstanding accordionist based in Venice and is very active in the contemporary repertoire. His principal teachers were Elio Boschello and Claudio Jacomucci. Luca graduated with honors from Conservatory in Milan and has a degree in Italian Literature from the University of Venezia.
Luca has performed in and worked with Harvard University, Boston University, Mata Festival, Tokyo Opera City Hall, Musical weeks in Lugano, Teatro la Fenice (Venezia), Teatro Massimo (Palermo), Ex Novo Ensemble, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Ensemble L'arsenale (Treviso), Metropolis Ensemble (New York), Acme Ensemble (New York), Ecce Ensemble (Boston), Neue Vocalsolisten (Stuttgart), Villa Romana (Firenze). He gave lectures at Boston University, University of Timisoara, Festival Composit, Conservatorio di Padova and Conservatorio di Venezia.
Luca Piovesan's solo accordion performance will offer the audience a glimpse on the many repertoires and souls of his instrument, from Baroque to pop; from opera to tango; from dance to contemporary music. Each piece will be preceded by an introduction, in which Luca will share his insight into the works, the accordion's history and its creative possibilities.
