Saturday, July 7th, 2PM - Concert, “Colonna Sonora” Film Music, Italian Style, in honor of the 175th anniversary of the Antonio Meucci home and the 211th birthday of Giuseppe Garibaldi. Garibaldi-Meucci Museum | 420 Tompkins Avenue | Staten Island, NY 10305
Prior to the concert the museum will hold a flag ceremony to honor all veterans and community heroes. Pianist/Vocalist Alex Leonard and Vocalist Anna Maria Villa will perform. Italian influence can be found in Hollywood's Golden Age of the movie musical as well in post-war Rome where "Cinecitta" produced masterpieces such as Fellini's "La Dolce Vita." Composers such as Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone produced outstanding instrumental melodies for the cinema which have been performed by legendary stars.
Vocalist Anna Maria Villa originates from the paese di Celano in Abruzzo, Italy. Performances include the Waldorf Astoria and Hotel Pierre in Manhattan. She has also acted in many TV and film productions. Pianist/vocalist Alex Leonard has performed in Manhattan, Las Vegas, Zurich and Tokyo. He has been a featured guest on CUNY-TV and Bloomberg Radio's "The Business of Show Business." Alex has presented in concert at many festivals. Donation of $10 per person.
