The fourth annual Taste of Italy Golf Outing & Dinner — celebrating the life achievements of Corrado "Joe" Manfredi to benefit Casa Belvedere — played to perfection Wednesday at Silver Lake Golf Course, where more than 120 linksters took to the lush greens on the time-honored course.
Manfredi arrived in New York back in 1952 and the perceptive young Italian immigrant recognized that automobiles gave individuals freedom and the unifying love of cars bridged all barriers. It was then he made a lifelong commitment to be a part of fulfilling every American's dream to own a car. His career began at Safe Rambler Motors in Brooklyn where he worked as a mechanic in between day studies at Automotive High School and night classes in automatic transmission repair.
