Carnival Cruise Line now has a record-setting five ships based at Port Canaveral, with the deployment Wednesday of the Carnival Venezia there. The Venezia is offering a seasonal series of cruises out of Port Canaveral to various destinations throughout the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Mexico. It has a capacity of 4,090 passengers and a crew of 1,424.
The ship was built in 2019, and originally sailed under the Costa brand, which is a sister line to Carnival. It underwent a multimillion-dollar refurbishment in 2023 that added elements of the cruise line’s “Carnival Fun Italian Style” concepts and experiences that were influenced by the ship’s Italian design and architectural features inspired by its namesake city of Venice, Italy.
