The Dallas Mavericks have one less free agency decision to make later this summer. Forward Nicolò Melli is leaving the NBA and retuning to Italy. He is finalizing a deal to play for Olimpia Milano, Sportando reports. Melli, 30, joined the Mavericks in March along with JJ Redick as part of a multi-player trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. In return, Dallas sent New Orleans James Johnson, Wes Iwundu, a 2021 second-round draft pick and cash.
After coming to Dallas, Melli appeared in 23 games, starting four. He averaged four points and 2.8 rebounds in just over 14 minutes per game. He shot the ball better with the Mavericks than with the Pelicans this season. In Dallas he hit his shots at an overall clip of 37.8% and 33.3% from deep.
