on Tuesday, May 2 for an enlightening presentation by CCF Member Santi Buscemi on the fairy tales of Luigi Capuana. Buscemi's book, Sicilian Tales, translates nineteen fairy tales from Capuana's C'era una volta. While you can expect to meet traditional characters in these fairy tales, Capuana's style infamously features strange and surprising elements especially in each tale's ending. A dramatic reading of at least two of the tales, aimed at an adult audience, will be sure to pique your interest! The reception begins at 6PM followed by the presentation at 6:30PM.
Santi Buscemi has a great passion for the work of Capuana and knows his writing intimately from translating these masterpieces into English. He recently retired as Chair of the English Department at Middlesex County College in Edison, New Jersey where he still teaches. He has authored several college textbooks and translated the literary novels of Luigi Capuana. Book now to enjoy a cocktail reception and an expert's view on Capuana.
