Italian American Heritage Night at the Crabs is always a treat. Really a treat, with six kinds of home-baked biscotti for sale, Chianti on the wine list, and not one, but two special flavors of Pellegrino at the snack bar. Don’t forget the delicious smell of sausages, peppers and onions on the outdoor grill.
“This was the third year we’ve done it,” said Gina Luzzi, a member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Eureka Lodge #1274. “It seems like a natural fit to partner with the Crabs.” The late Lou Bonomini and Ned Barsuglia would have agreed. Bonomini coached and managed the Crabs for more than 40 years. He is often described as the team’s founder although he modestly gave credit to Eureka newspaper publisher Don O’Kane.
