As of last March 1, Raffaella Valentini is the new Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles. Roman, born in 1975, Valentini graduated in political science from the University of Rome and entered the diplomatic career in 2003. Her first assignment at the Farnesina is at the Directorate General for Development Cooperation. In 2008, the first mandate abroad: she is first commercial secretary in Tirana, where he remains until 2013, when he assumes the same functions in Cairo.
In 2016 she returned to Rome, reporting directly to the Director General for Globalization and Global Issues. In May of that year, she was placed out of her post to serve at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - Office of the Diplomatic Adviser to the Prime Minister, where she was also confirmed following the various changes of government that followed until last year. In Los Angeles she succeeds Silvia Chiave.
