Tomorrow an important part of Clearfield society will be celebrating 100 years when the Due Palme Sons of Italy No. 189, located Daisy Street, marks this special occasion.
According to information provided to The Progress, the first Order of Sons of Italy was formed in New York City in 1905 with the purpose of helping Italian immigrants adjust to their new home, become citizens and provide various benefits and educational opportunities. The first Pennsylvania club was started in Reading and currently there are about 80 clubs in Pennsylvania, including Clearfield's.
