The Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C. launched the 15th annual "Week of Italian Language in the World" celebration with an award ceremony and panel discussion for Italian authors Monday night. The award ceremony included a presentation of "The Bridge" literary prize.
This year's theme for Italian language week, "The Italian music, the music of Italian," celebrates the lyrical beauty of the language. "If you play any instrument -- the piano to the triangle -- you will probably be familiar with terms such as piano, pianissimo, andante, allegro and maestoso," says H.E. Claudio Bisogniero, Italian ambassador to the United States.
